I have for sale an original unrestored complete 1973 Schwinn 5 speed Orange Krate bicycle with its original disc brake. As you can see it is in in good used condition. This is the type of bicycle you would generally find in a country barn somewhere or in a forgotten storage shed which the bike was untouched by human hands for decades. By the way it looks, I would say it was probably heavily ridden by its previous owner, but for only a few short years. And then, for what ever reason, the boy or his parents stashed it away in an isolated area for a long, long time. I feel this bicycle is in good shape considering it is now over 50 years old. The original Sunset Orange banana seat that was on this bicycle was ripped up and well used throughout its life. It has since been restored back to its factory Schwinn conditions and it looks absolutely beautiful (see pics). You will not be able to find a better looking original restored Schwinn Sunset Orange banana seat. And then there is the original 1973 Schwinn pumpkin headlight. It is not in the best used conditions, but the chrome still looks nice on it (see pic). And yes, it works just like it did when it was brand new. I have tested everything on this bicycle and everything works like it should. Both brake lines work, the rear disc brake and front Atom drum brake works, and the shifter and derailleur works. Everything on this bicycle is mostly original except for the brake and derailleur cables, some of the fasteners, the streamers and maybe the 2 inner tubes. The original brake cables and derailleur cable had to be replaced because they were all corroded and cracking and their interior steel cables were frozen with rust. They were not salvageable. There was some peppering of rust on the chrome pieces on this bicycle, but most of it has been removed. I mean, what do you expect for a bicycle that is now 50 years old and has been stored for decades? What rust I did remove makes the bicycle look a whole lot better. The rear Schwinn Stingray slik tire is the original tire that came with his bicycle. As you can see it is not in the best of shape right now. It has cracking, splitting, and some corrosion in areas that run along the edging of the tire’s rubber cap. I would say 95% + of this tire is still intact and in good condition except for what was just stated. It can still hold air as the pictures show. Remember this: This is one of the last made 1973 Schwinn 5 speed Orange Krate bicycles, with its original Sunset Orange paint, that came with a disc brake on it. They did not continue making these types of bicycles after 1973. Because of this, it would be best to get it now while the getting is good. Please note: Because of the age and previous use of this bicycle, it’s sale is considered as is. This means there will be no refunds or returns allowed. Repeat, there will be no refunds or returns allowed. What you see is what you get so please make sure this is what you want before you purchase it. Thanks for looking at my mostly original 1973 Schwinn 5-speed Orange Krate bicycle, with its original bodacious disc brake, and God bless America.
